Introduction to Tibetan Buddhism and Meditation

Tuesday evenings 7.30 pm to 9 pm.  Held four times per year. Next course commencing 12 October 2010.

This course is intended to provide an understanding of the Buddha’s teachings and how they can assist all people to achieve their potential for a happy, fulfilled and meaningful life.

Buddhism is considered by many to be a philosophy and a psychology. Meditation is the main method used to understand the fundamentals of the Buddha’s teachings.

This course therefore will cover:

Guided meditations to help attain relaxed states of mind leading to further contentment and happiness

Explanations of the main Buddhist views of impermanence, karma, the nature of the mind, compassion, enlightenment

The course is suitable for both beginners and those who have some knowledge and interest in Tibetan Buddhism but wish to increase that knowledge.

The book Essence of the Path to Enlightenment by the Spiritual Leader and Founder of the Tibetan Buddhist Society, Geshe Acharya Thubten Loden is the basis of the course.

Wear comfortable clothing for sitting either on the floor or in a chair. The facility charge for the four week course is one payment of $60.  Refreshments are provided after class.
